The technology lives in the Core, the same shape and size as the strap, so it reads as jewellery, not a gadget. Just a small ripple mark that tells you where to hold.

The strap
One strap. Fits every wrist.
A soft woven strap with a soft-touch slider. No sizes to choose, and it pops on and off the Core whenever you want a new look.
Adjust
Slide to fit.
Loosen the slider at the back, slip it over your hand, then pull the two ends to tighten. One size fits wrists from about 14 to 22 cm.

Click to change.
Each end of the strap pushes into the Core until it clicks. Press the small release underneath to pop it off, then click in a new colour.

Drop it in. Charged for the week.

What size do I need?
None to choose: Locara is one size. Slide the sleeve at the back to loosen it, slip it over your hand, then pull the two ends to tighten. It fits wrists from about 14 to 22 cm.
Which phones does it work with?
iPhone first. Android is planned.
How far away can my phone be?
Locara uses Bluetooth, so it's made for your home: the bedroom, the sofa, the kitchen. It's not for a phone you left at the pub.
Does it still work if I close the app?
Yes, after a one-minute setup in the Locara app. It uses an iPhone Shortcut that runs even when the app has been swiped away, and turns your volume up at the same time.
What is the strap made of?
A fine woven nylon with stretchy threads, soft like a fabric watch strap. It comes in black or white, and it clicks in and out of the Core, so you can swap it any time. More styles are on the way.
Is it a smartwatch?
No. No screen, no notifications, nothing to check. It looks like a simple bracelet: a Core on a woven strap, and the Core is the button.
What is the Core made of?
Matte metal on the outside, in black, silver or gold, with a smooth ceramic back against your wrist. The ceramic lets Bluetooth and wireless charging pass straight through, and it's hard-wearing and gentle on skin.
How do I charge it?
Slip it over the stone pebble that comes in the box, any way round. A small light glows while it charges and fades when it's full. One charge should last about a week. The pebble has a USB-C socket at the back and comes with a 1 m USB-C cable that works with any USB-C phone plug or laptop.
Can I wear it in the shower?
That's the plan. Everything is sealed inside with no ports, it charges wirelessly and the woven strap dries quickly. We'll confirm the official water rating once it's tested.
How much will it cost?
We expect £59 for the Locara One: the Core, a strap and the charging pebble. Extra straps will be sold separately. People on the waitlist get the first price.
